Franchitti has had a lot of success in open-wheel racing throughout a long career. In 2007 Franchitti peaked in IRL with his first Indianapolis 500 and first championship while driving for Andretti Green Racing. During 2007 Franchitti won four races and edged Scott Dixon by 13 points for the championship. After his championship season Franchitti moved to NASCAR to drive for Chip Ganassi Racing. He made his NASCAR debut in the Craftsman Truck Series in October 2007 and will drive full-time for Chip Ganassi during the 2008 Sprint Cup season. Franchitti is also well-known for being married to Hollywood actress Ashley Judd.
