Whitt was the 2008 USAC National Midget Champion, becoming the youngest ever driver to win that title. In 2010 he moved up to stock cars and won the USAC Super License Award, while finishing fourth in points in the Camping World Series East championship. He made his Nationwide Series debut at the Phoenix International Speedway and finished in 15th place. Whitt also made his Sprint Cup Series debut at Phoenix in the Kobalt Tools 500 on November 13 2011 and finished in 25th place for the Red Bull Racing Team.
