After a successful youth career racing go-karts that included two World Karting Association championships, Hill moved through the ranks of Legend cars, the Allison Legacy Series, the K&N Pro Series East and the ARCA Racing Series, before joining Rick Ware Racing in the Nationwide Series where he was named the 2011 Rookie of the Year. His meteoric rise continued into 2012 when it was announced he would compete on the Sprint Cup Series following his seventh-place finish in the season-opening Nationwide Series race. He made his Sprint Cup Series debut in the Kobalt Tools 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and finished in 42nd place.
