Gordon wins at Martinville
Jeff Gordon held off Tony Stewart to take the checkered at the Subway 500 at the Martinsville Speedway.
By finishing second Tony Stewart moved ahead of Jimmie Johnson, who finished in third place, to sit atop the Nextel Cup Standings with four races left in the season.
Bobby Labonte was fourth, followed by Jeff Burton in fifth. Rounding out the rest of the top 10 were Kurt Busch, Jamie McMurray, Denny Hamlin, Kyle Busch and Ryan Newman.
The drivers of NASCAR take to the track again next week at the Atlanta Motor Speedway in the Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500.
