Johnson wins at Daytona

Jimmie Johnson started the new NASCAR season with a win Sunday, as he held off Casey Mears to take the checkered flag in the Daytona 500 at the Daytona International Speedway.

Ryan Newman was third on the day, followed by Elliot Sadler in fourth and reigning Nextel Cup champions Tony Stewart in fifth position. Rookie driver Clint Bowyer finished in sixth, while Brian Vickers was sixth and Dale Ernhardt Jr, crossed the line in eighth place.

Rounding out the rest of the top 10 were Ken Schrader in ninth place and Dale Jarrett in tenth.

Next week, the drivers of NASCAR hit the track at the California Speedway in Fontana, California for the Auto Club 500.
