Stewart wins at Martinsville
Tony Stewart pulled away from the rest of the field after a late restart Sunday and was able to hold off Jeff Gordon to claim the checkered flag in the DIRECTV 500 at the Martinsville Speedway.
Jimmie Johnson finished in third place and moved into first place in the drivers standings, 59 points ahead of Mark Martin.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. rode a badly beaten up car to a fourth place finish, followed closely by Kyle Busch in fifth. Elliot Sadler was in sixth and Kevin Harvick was seventh. Rounding out the rest of the top 10 were Brian Vickers, Jamie McMurray and Scott Riggs.
The drivers of NASCAR take to the track next week at the Texas Motor Speedway in the Samsung/RadioShack 500.
