Gordon wins in the rain at Pocono

Jeff Gordon gambled by staying out on the track while the leaders pitted at Pocono Raceway Sunday, and it paid off as the race was called due to rain with Gordon still in the lead, giving Gordon his fourth win of the season in the Pocono 500. The race was called with 107 of the 200 laps completed. With the win Gordon increased his lead in the driver standings. He now has a 242-point lead over Matt Kenseth who was ninth on Sunday.

Ryan Newman ended up in second place at Pocono, followed by Martin Truex Jr. in third and Casey Mears in fourth. Tony Stewart was fifth and Denny Hamlin came sixth.

Rounding out the rest of the Top 10 and collecting some points were Mark Martin, Kyle Busch, Kenseth and Clint Bowyer.

The drivers of NASCAR will hope for better weather when they return to the track next week at Michigan International Speedway in the Citizens Bank 400.
