Johnson wins at California
Jimmie Johnson raced to the front of the pack late on Sunday and cruised to an easy win, as he took the checkered flag for the fifth time this season in the Sharp AQUOS 500 at California Speedway.
Jeff Gordon finished well back in 22nd place on Sunday, but he continues to lead the points standings with a 317-point lead over Tony Stewart, who was 13th at California.
Finishing behind Johnson at California was Carl Edwards in second and Kyle Busch in third place. Jeff Burton was fourth, Dale Earnhardt Jr. was fifth and Martin Truex Jr. crossed the line sixth. Rounding out the rest of the Top 10 on Sunday were Matt Kenseth, Brian Vickers, Kurt Busch and Kasey Kahne.
With one race remaining before The Chase begins Kevin Harvick currently sits in 12th place in the point standings with a 128-point lead over Earnhardt Jr., who is 13th.
The drivers of NASCAR return to the track next week at Richmond International Raceway in the Chevy Rock & Roll 400.
