Hamlin cashes at Pocono
Denny Hamlin vaulted to fifth place in the Sprint Cup Series by winning the Sunoco Red Cross Pennsylvania 500 at Pocono Raceway on Monday.
Tony Stewart finished 10th after starting from the pole to remain in first place in the standings. Jimmie Johnson came in 13th to remain second in the Chase for the Cup, 197 points behind Stewart.
Juan Pablo Montoya was second at Pocono, followed by Clint Bowyer in third and Sam Hornish Jr. in fourth. Rounding out the top 10 were Kasey Kahne, Brian Vickers, Mark Martin, Jeff Gordon, and Kurt Busch.
The Sprint Cup Series returns to the track on Sunday at Watkins Glen International with the Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at the Glen.
