Denny Hamlin held off a late-charging Jimmie Johnson at the line to cash the Samsung Mobile 500 at Texas Motor Speedway on Monday.
Johnson now leads the Sprint Cup Series with 1248 points, 108 ahead of Matt Kenseth, who finished in 20th place in Texas.
Hamlin jumped to 11th in the points standings with his second win of the season. Kyle Busch was third, Kurt Busch was fourth, and Kasey Kahne was fifth on Monday. Rounding out the top 10 were Mark Martin, Kevin Harvick, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Martin Truex Jr., and Greg Biffle.
The Sprint Cup Series returns on Sunday with the Aaron's 499 at Talladega Superspeedway.
