Hamlin wins at Martinsville
Denny Hamlin took a bite out of Jimmie Johnson's lead in the driver standings Sunday with his seventh victory of the season at Martinsville Speedway in the TUMS Fast Relief 500.
With the win Hamlin moved within six points of Johnson in the standings. Johnson has 5998 points to lead the Chase after finishing fifth on Sunday. The rest of the Top 5 in the driver standings includes Kevin Harvick in third, Kyle Busch in fourth and Jeff Gordon in fifth.
Finishing behind Hamlin at Martinsville was Mark Martin in second, Harvick in third and Kyle Busch in fourth. Johnson was fifth, Joey Logano was sixth and Dale Earnhardt Jr. was seventh. Rounding out the rest of the Top 10 were Carl Edwards, Jeff Burton and Brad Keselowski.
The Chase for the Sprint Cup resumes next week at Talladega Superspeedway with the AMP Energy Juice 500.
