Edwards wins in Miami, Johnson wins fifth championship
Carl Edwards finished the season with back-to-back wins after claiming the checkered flag Sunday, but the day belonged to Jimmie Johnson who clinched his fifth straight Sprint Cup Championship after finishing second in the Ford 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
After Sunday's second place finish Johnson finished the season with 6622 points. That was 36 more points than Kevin Harvick, who was third on Sunday, and 39 points more than Denny Hamlin who went into the race with the points lead, but fell back after finishing 14th.
Following Edwards, Johnson and Harvick over the finish line in Miami were Aric Almirola in fourth, A.J. Allmendinger in fifth and Kasey Kahne in sixth. Ryan Newman was seventh and Tony Stewart was eighth. Rounding out the rest of the Top 10 were Matt Kenseth and Greg Biffle.
