Newman claims victory at Martinsville
Ryan Newman held off A.J. Allmendinger and Dale Earnhardt Jr. on Sunday afternoon to take the checkered flag in the Goody's Fast Relief 500 at Martinsville Speedway.
Matt Kenseth and Martin Truex Jr. rounded out the Top 5 at Martinsville, with Denny Hamlin, Tony Stewart, Aric Almirola, Brad Keselowski, and Clint Bowyer making up the rest of the Top 10.
Jimmie Johnson ended up in 12th place and Jeff Gordon had to settle for a 14th-place result after both drivers spun out late in the race. Greg Biffle was 13th.
Biffle's lead in the driver standings is now down to six points on Earnhardt Jr., with Stewart, Kenseth, Kevin Harvick, and Truex Jr. in a four-way tie for third place after the first six events of the season.
