Late surge powers Cougars
The Houston Cougars scored two touchdowns in the final 6:52 of the game to beat Southern Methodist 37-27 at Gerald Ford Stadium on Saturday.
The Cougars covered the 3-point spread on the road, and the 64 points scored were OVER the posted total of 53.
Kevin Kolb went 12-for-21 for 149 yards and one touchdown, and Anthony Alridge rushed 14 times for 238 yards and two majors for the Cougars.
Justin Willis went 22-for-35 for 289 yards and three touchdowns, while Emmanuel Sanders had nine catches for 147 yards and two scores for the Mustangs.
