Mustangs Fall 45-20 Against Houston - Game Recap

The battle between the Cougars and Mustangs didn’t turn out to be much of a battle at all as Southern Methodist was handed a 45-20 defeat on Saturday at Gerald J. Ford Stadium.

Houston was an underdog by 8 points and came through with an ATS victory for bettors. The game went OVER the consensus closing total of 60.5.

David Piland completed 19 of 32 pass attempts for 233 yards for the Cougars in the win. He did not throw an interception in the game.

Zach Line rushed for 106 yards for Southern Methodist, while Kyle Padron added 21 yards. Kyle Padron threw for 318 yards for the Mustangs, while receivers Aldrick Robinson and Cole Beasley had 101 and 80 yards respectively.

Southern Methodist outgained Houston 445-397 yards in the game, while the battle of first downs was won 25-22 by the Cougars.

The time of possession battle favored Southern Methodist as their offense was on the field for 32:00, longer than the 28:00 of their opponents.

Next game, Houston takes its act on the road to face Memphis looking for another win. For Southern Methodist, they head on the road to face Tulane.
