Pirates sweep away Marlins
The Pittsburgh Pirates completed a sweep of the red-hot Florida Marlins with a 7-4 victory Wednesday afternoon in the series finale at PNC Park.
Pittsburgh won the game as a +105 underdog, while the 11 runs made it OVER the day's posted over/under (8).
Adam LaRoche had four hits in five trips to the plate, driving in one run and scoring twice for the Pirates. Paul Maholm improved to 3-0 with a six-inning performance, and Matt Capps closed it out with his third save.
Cody Ross went 2-for-4 at the plate with one RBI for the Marlins. Ricky Nolasco suffered the loss, giving up six runs off eight hits over six innings.
