Brewers shut down Cardinals
Jeff Suppan pitched seven scoreless innings to help the Milwaukee Brewers beat the St. Louis Cardinals 1-0 at Busch Stadium Saturday afternoon.
Milwaukee won as a +137 road underdog while the final score played under the 9.5-run total.
Suppan allowed six hits while striking out two batters before turning the ball over to the bullpen. Right fielder Corey Hart hit his fourth home run of the season, giving the Brewers their only score of the game.
Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright was solid, working eight innings and allowing just two hits – one of which a home run in the second inning. Outfielder Shane Robinson was 2-for-4 at the plate while first baseman Albert Pujols was just 1-for-4 with two strikeouts.
