Pirates drop Mets

Delwyn Young's go-ahead RBI single highlighted a five-run eighth inning, as the Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the New York Mets 8-5 on Monday night.

Pittsburgh cashed as +105 home underdogs as the game played OVER the 9.5-run total set by oddsmakers.

Andy LaRoche went 2-for-4 with three runs batted in for the Pirates, while Tom Gorzelanny picked up the win in relief of starter Ian Snell for Pittsburgh.

Wilson Valdez was 2-for-4 with three RBIs for New York, as J.J. Putz was tagged with the loss after allowing three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning for the Mets.
