Cardinals rally past Reds
Jarrett Hoffpauir drove in two runs in the ninth inning as the St. Louis Cardinals got past the Cincinnati Reds 7-4 in the series opener Friday night at Great American Ball Park.
St. Louis won the game as -120 favorites, while the 11 runs made it OVER the posted over/under (9.5).
Albert Pujols hit a grand slam home run and drove in five runs to lead the Cardinals. Jason Motte got the win in relief, and Ryan Franklin closed out the ninth with his 20th save.
Jerry Hairston Jr. went 3-for-4 at the plate with one RBI for the Reds. Daniel Ray Herrera gave up three runs off three hits in relief and suffered the loss.
