Cardinals get past Pirates

Matt Holliday homered and drove in two runs on Friday night as the St. Louis Cardinals rolled to a 6-4 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The Cardinals were winners as -250 road favorites in this contest, while the combined score went OVER the night's posted total (7).

Chris Carpenter gave up four runs over eight innings in the win for the Cardinals. Mark DeRosa hit his eighth home run of the season.

Paul Maholm allowed four runs over seven innings in his start for the Pirates. Garrett Jones and Ryan Doumit both homered in the loss.
