Arroyo tosses gem; Reds blank Nationals

Bronson Arroyo tossed a two-hit complete-game shutout Thursday, as the Cincinnati Reds defeated the Washington Nationals 7-0 in the opener of a four-game set at Great American Ball Park.

Cincinnati won the game as -160 favorites, but the team’s played UNDER the posted over/under (9.5).

Jonny Gomes launched three home runs and drove in five runs to lead the Reds. Arroyo evened his record to 11-11 on the season.

Colin Balester gave up five runs over five innings in suffering the loss.
