Boston won the game as -135 favorites, while the nine runs went UNDER the day’s posted over/under (10).
Jason Bay doubled and drove in two runs for the Red Sox. Tim Wakefield went 6 2-3 innings for the win, and Jonathan Papelbon closed out the ninth with his 14th save.
Brandon Inge went 3-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs for the Tigers. Dontrelle Willis allowed five runs over 2 1-3 innings in the loss.
