White Sox edge Angels

Scott Podsednik's run-scoring single in the bottom of the ninth inning lifted the Chicago White Sox past the Los Angeles Angels 5-4 on Tuesday night.

Chicago won as +120 home underdogs as the teams played UNDER the 9.5-run total listed by oddsmakers.

Gordon Beckham went 2-for-4 with a big fly and two runs batted in for the White Sox, while Matt Thornton picked up the win in relief of starter Jose Contreras for Chicago.

Bobby Abreu drove in three runs for Los Angeles, as Kevin Jepsen took the loss after allowing the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning.
