Tigers blank Red Sox; avoid sweep

Justin Verlander scattered just four hits over eight scoreless innings Thursday, as the Detroit Tigers defeated the Boston Red Sox 2-0 and avoided a four-game sweep at Fenway Park.

Detroit won this game as a -110 pick’em, and the team’s played UNDER the posted over/under (9).

Ryan Raburn hit a solo home run and drove in both runs for the Tigers. Verlander improved to 13-6 with the win.

Clay Buchholz surrendered five hits and two runs over seven innings, falling to 1-3 on the season.
