Rangers topple Twins

Marlon Byrd was 2-for-4 with three runs batted in to lead the Texas Rangers past the Minnesota Twins 8-5 on Monday night.

Texas won as -140 home favorites as the teams played OVER the 9.5-run total listed by oddsmakers.

David Murphy knocked in two runs for the Rangers, while Tommy Hunter got the win after allowing four runs over 5 2-3 innings for Texas.

Delmon Young and Nick Punto drove in a pair of runs apiece for Minnesota, as Francisco Liriano was rocked for seven runs over two innings to take the defeat for the Twins.
