Phillies beat around Nationals
The Philadelphia Phillies kept the bats swinging against the Washington Nationals, picking up an 8-5 victory in the first game a double header at Nationals Park Saturday.
Philadelphia won as a -121 road favorite while the final score played over the 10-run total.
Left fielder Raul Ibanez went 3-for-5 at the plate with four RBI including two home runs. Right fielder Jayson Werth also launched a long ball, finishing 3-for-5 with two RBI. Starter Brett Meyers pitched seven innings, giving up two runs on three hits, two of which were solo home runs.
Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman went 2-for-4 and hit his ninth home run of the year. Also knocking one out of the park was Josh Willingham. Washington starter Scott Olsen lasted five innings, allowing five earned runs on nine hits.
