Placido Polanco went 3-for-3 at the plate and drove in a pair of runs to lead the Detroit Tigers in a 5-1 win over the Chicago White Sox Friday afternoon in the opener of a doubleheader at Comerica Park.
Detroit won the game as -190 favorites, while the six runs went UNDER the day's posted over/under (8).
Justin Verlander tossed a complete game six-hitter with four strikeouts on the hill and improved to 11-5 for the Tigers.
Gordon Beckam hit a sacrifice fly for the only White Sox run. Jose Conteras gave up nine hits and four runs over 6 2-3 innings in the loss.
