Royals blank Nationals

The Kansas City Royals avoided a three-game sweep with a 1-0 win over the Washington Nationals in the series finale Wednesday.

Kansas City won the contest as -250 favorites, while the teams played UNDER the posted over/under (7.5) set by sportsbooks.

Jose Guillen went 2-for-4 and drove in the only run in the ball game. Brian Bannister earned the win for the Royals, and Joakim Soria closed out the ninth for his 17th save.

Stephen Strasburg surrendered nine hits and one run with nine strikeouts in the loss for the Nationals.
