Peavy, White Sox shut down Cubs

Jake Peavy tossed a three-hit shutout through seven innings with nine strikeouts Friday, as the Chicago White Sox defeated the Chicago Cubs 6-0 in the series-opener at U.S. Cellular Field.

The White Sox won the game as -162 favorites, while the teams played UNDER the posted over/under (8.5) set by sportsbooks.

Carlos Quentin belted a three-run homer for the White Sox, and Peavy improved to 7-5 with the win.

Carlos Zambrano gave up four runs off four hits in the first inning and was tagged with the Cubs loss.
