Marshall vs Southern Miss Recap - Golden Eagles Win 41-16

Marshall couldn't hang with the Golden Eagles on Saturday as Southern Miss blasted the Thundering Herd 41-16 in Week 5 action at MM Roberts Stadium.

Southern Miss won and also put money in the pockets of their supporters by covering the 8.5-point spread as favorites. Totals bettors, meanwhile, saw the game go OVER the closing number of 53.5.

Austin Davis completed 16 of 29 pass attempts for 164 yards for the Golden Eagles in the win. He did not throw an interception in the game.

Martin Ward rushed for 31 yards for Marshall, while A.J. Graham added 15 yards. A.J. Graham threw for 98 yards for the Thundering Herd, while receivers Antavious Wilson and Lee Smith had 59 and 21 yards respectively.

Marshall was outgained by Southern Miss 369-180 yards in Saturday's match, while the important battle of first downs was won 24-11 by the Golden Eagles.

The time of possession battle favored Southern Miss as their offense was on the field for 32:39, longer than the 27:21 of their opponents.

Next game, Southern Miss takes its act home to face East Carolina looking for another win. For Marshall, they head home to face Central Florida.
