Tigers fend off Gamecocks
The No. 2 Auburn Tigers foiled a late drive to fend off the South Carolina Gamecocks 24-17 Thursday night.
Auburn came into the contest as a huge 14-point favorite on the road and failed to cover the spread, while the game’s combined 41 points made it OVER the posted total (38).
Kenny Irons rushed for two touchdowns off 27 carries for 117 yards total and quarterback Brandon Cox was good on 13-of-19 for 180 yards with one TD in the win for Auburn.
Syvelle Newton was solid in a losing effort, racking up 239 yards passing with two touchdowns, while completing 21-of-35 with one interception.
