Buckeyes triumphant in season opener

Donte Whtiner returned an interception for a 26-yard touchdown right before halftime and the Ohio State Buckeyes went on to beat the Miami(OH) RedHawks 34-14 on Saturday.

The Buckeyes were listed as 16.5-point favorites at home in this one and made good on covering the spread. The RedHawks scored a TD late in the game to push the final score OVER the posted over/under (47).

Justin Zwick went 17-for-23 for 157 yards and a touchdown and Antonio Pittman ran for 97 yards on 14 carries for Ohio State.

Santonio Holmes and Ted Ginn Jr. each had a touchdown reception in the win.

Josh Betts completed 24 of 44 passes for 250 yards and a touchdown in the loss for the RedHawks.
