Smith carries Buckeyes past Iowa
Troy Smith threw for 189 yards and two touchdowns, while adding 129 yards and two scores on the ground to carry the No. 8 Ohio State Buckeyes to a 31-6 victory against the No. 21 Iowa Hawkeyes on Saturday.
The Buckeyes were listed as 9-point favorites at home and didn’t have any trouble covering the spread on this day. The combined score fell UNDER the posted total (42.5).
Anthony Gonzalez had 87 yards receiving and two touchdowns in the win. Antonio Pittman rushed for 167 yards on 28 carries for Ohio State.
Drew Tate completed 22-of-39 passes for 152 yards and had one interception in the loss. Kyle Schlicher kicked two field goals including a 52-yarder for the Hawkeyes.
