Buckeyes knock off Spartans in Big 10 matchup
Troy Smith passed for three touchdowns and ran for another to lead the No. 15 Ohio State Buckeyes to a 35-24 win over the No. 16 Michigan State Spartans in Big 10 action on Saturday.
The Buckeyes were listed as 7.5-point favorites in this one and thanks to a late touchdown, they made good on covering the spread. The game’s combined score went OVER the posted total (51.5).
Smith finished the game with 251 yards passing and 37 yards rushing. Santonio Holmes had five catches for 150 yards and two touchdowns and Ted Ginn Jr. had one TD catch for the Buckeyes. Antonio Pittman rushed for 103 yards on 18 carries.
Drew Stanton completed 26-of-36 passes for 342 yards and a touchdown in the loss. Jehuu Caulcrick and Jason Teague had a rushing TD each for the Spartans.
