Detroit got 25 points from Ben Gordon and another 21 points from Will Bynum. Will Bynum contributed 9 assists, while Tayshaun Prince cleaned the glass with 12 rebounds.
The Hornets got a 32-point performance from David West, who was supported by 23 points from Chris Paul. Chris Paul had 10 assists in a losing cause for New Orleans, while Emeka Okafor grabbed 12 rebounds.
Detroit trailed at halftime, 51-41.
The rebound battle favored New Orleans as they grabbed 47 boards, while Detroit only had 37.
Detroit heads into a battle against the Raptors. New Orleans, meanwhile, will have their next action against Indiana.
