Northwestern stuns Michigan State

Quarterback Brett Basanez threw a pair of touchdown passes and ran in for two more to lead the Northwestern Wildcats to a 49-14 upset win over the No. 22 Michigan State Spartans on Saturday.

The Wildcats won this game as 14-point underdogs on the road. The game’s combined 63 points fell UNDER the posted total (71).

Basanez finished the game completing 24-of-30 passes for 331 yards and tossing touchdowns to Eric Peterman and Mark Philmore. Tyrell Sutton rushed for 109 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 21 carries for Northwestern.

Drew Stanton passed for 234 yards, with one touchdown and was picked off three times in the loss. Jehuu Caulcrick had a TD on the ground for the Spartans.
