Chippewas get by Ball State in OT
Kent Smith tossed a seven-yard touchdown to Justin Harper in overtime to lift the Central Michigan Chippewas to a 31-24 win over the Ball State Cardinals on Saturday.
The Chippewas were listed a 4-point favorites on the road and made good on covering the spread. The game’s combined 55 points made it OVER the posted total (51.5).
Smith finished the game with 340 yards passing and three touchdowns. Jacob Brown had four catches for 108 yards receiving and a pair of touchdowns, and Ryan Strehl returned a blocked punt for a TD in the victory.
Charles Wynn and Joey Lynch rushed for a TD each for the Cardinals, and Joey Lynch threw for 279 yards, with a touchdown and an interception in the loss.
