Recap - Broncos Defeat Massachusetts 52-14
The battle between the Broncos and Minutemen didn’t turn out to be much of a battle at all as Massachusetts was handed a 52-14 defeat on Saturday at Waldo Stadium.
Western Michigan won and also put money in the pockets of their supporters by covering the 17-point spread as favorites. Totals bettors, meanwhile, saw the game go OVER the closing number of 56.5.
Tyler Van Tubbergen completed 23 of 28 pass attempts for 283 yards for the Broncos in the win. He was picked off 1 time by the Minutemen defense.
A.J. Doyle rushed for 33 yards for Massachusetts, while Michael Cox added 19 yards. Mike Wegzyn threw for 88 yards for the Minutemen, while receivers Deion Walker and Marken Michel had 81 and 31 yards respectively.
Massachusetts lost the offensive yardage battle to Western Michigan 551-218 yards in Saturday's game. Western Michigan had more first downs as that total ended up 32-16.
The time of possession battle favored Western Michigan as their offense was on the field for 32:24, longer than the 27:36 of their opponents.
Western Michigan looks to continue their winning ways next game with a battle against Ball State. Massachusetts will aim to get back on the winning track vs Bowling Green.
