Northern Illinois edge Chippewas
Sam Hurd caught 12 passes for 265 yards and three touchdowns on Saturday to lead the Northern Illinois Huskies to a 31-28 win over the Central Michigan Chippewas.
The Huskies came into this one as a 3-point road favorite, but the game ended in a push. The game’s combined 59 points went OVER the posted over/under (50.5).
Dan Nicholson completed 19-of-27 passes for 318 yards, two touchdowns, one interception, and rushed for a TD in the win. Phil Horvath, who started the game at QB for the Huskies, completed 11-of-15 passes for 112 yards and a TD before leaving.
Kent Smith passed for 391 yards and four touchdowns, including two to Damien Linson, who finished the game with nine catches and 146 yards receiving for the Chippewas.
