The Minnesota Golden Gophers were in an unforgiving mood to begin the regular season, trouncing Kent State 44-0 at Dix Stadium.

Minnesota managed to cover the 15.5-point spread on the road, but the 44 points scored were just UNDER the posted total of 49.

Bryan Cupito was 8-for-13 for 144 yards and one touchdown for the Golden Gophers. Alex Daniels had 155 yards and three rushing touchdowns, and Amir Pinnix added 117 yards and one touchdown on the ground.

Julian Edelman was 8-for-14 for 164 yards for the Golden Flashes, but threw three interceptions. Najah Pruden had 116 yards on five catches.
