Kevin Garnett scored 22 points and chipped in with 12 rebounds for Boston on Wednesday, leading the Celtics to an 88-86 victory over Atlanta at TD Garden.
The Celtics earned a straight-up victory but suffered an ATS defeat in failing to cover the 2.5-point spread. Over-Under bettors who played UNDER the total of 180.5 were rewarded with a winning wager.
Boston got 21 points from Brandon Bass and another 14 points from Paul Pierce. Rajon Rondo contributed 20 assists, while Kevin Garnett cleaned the glass with 12 rebounds.
Atlanta got 21 points from Jeff Teague in a losing cause and another 20 points from Josh Smith. Jeff Teague contributed 6 assists for the Hawks, while Josh Smith had 11 rebounds.
Boston trailed at halftime, 48-40.
Boston won the battle of the boards, outrebounding their counterparts 56-39.
Next game, Boston takes its act on the road to face Toronto looking for another win. For Atlanta, they head on the road to face Orlando.
