The Dayton Flyers built up an early lead and had to fend off the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets for a hard-fought 63-59 win Thursday afternoon in the opening round of the Puerto Rico Tip-Off.
Chris Johnson led the way with 19 points for Dayton, who won the game as a 1.5-point underdog.
Derrick Favors had 10 points and seven rebounds for Georgia Tech.
