Cincinnati upsets Vanderbilt

Yancy Gates had 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead Cincinnati past No. 24 Vanderbilt 67-58 in the first round of the EA Sports Maui Invitational on Monday.

Cincinnati cashed as 3.5-point underdogs, while the teams played UNDER the 144.5-point total listed by sportsbooks.

Dion Dixon added 12 points and nine boards for the Bearcats, as no other players scored in double figures for Cincinnati.

Jermaine Beal dropped 16 points for Vanderbilt, while A.J. Ogilvy scored 13 points for the Commodores.
