Illinois outlasts Northwestern in OT

The Illinois Fighting Illini fought back to force overtime and came away with an 89-83 victory over the No. 25 Northwestern Wildcats Wednesday night.

Illinois failed to cover the 8-point spread, but the combined 172 points sailed OVER the posted total of 133.

Mike Tisdale poured in a game-high 31 points and hauled down12 rebounds for a double-double in the win.

John Shurna had 27 points with seven rebounds in a losing effort for Northwestern.
