The UTEP Miners jumped out to an early lead and ran past the Rice Owls 78-64 Saturday night.
UTEP failed to cover the 20.5-point spread, while the 142 points made it OVER the posted total of 138.5.
Jeremy Williams poured in 20 points from 7-for-11 shooting, and Randy Culpepper added 18 in the win for UTEP.
Arsalan Kazemi collected 12 points for Rice, and Lawrence Ghoram had 11 in the loss.
