Michael Thompson drained 16 points, as Northwestern overpowered Indiana 73-58 in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament at Conseco Fieldhouse on Thursday.

Northwestern covered as 8.5-point favorites, while the teams played UNDER the 134.5-point total set by oddsmakers.

John Shurna went for 14 points and seven rebounds for the Wildcats, who got 13 points from Jeremy Nash in the payday.

Verdell Jones III scored 20 points to lead Indiana, while Derek Elston added 10 points and nine boards for the Hoosiers.
