The battle between Marshall and VMI didnt turn out to be much of a battle at all as VMI was handed a 98-70 defeat on Sunday at Cam Henderson Center.
Marshall got 19 points from Shaquille Johnson and another 18 points from DeAndre Kane. DeAndre Kane contributed 13 assists, while Nigel Spikes cleaned the glass with 12 rebounds.
VMI got 24 points from Stan Okoye in a losing cause and another 16 points from Michael Sparks. Austin Kenon contributed 3 assists for them, while Stan Okoye had 15 rebounds.
First-half bettors who backed Marshall were victorious, as the score was 56-40 at the break.
Marshall won the battle of the boards, outrebounding their counterparts 55-30.
