Adam Brown scored 21 points leading Houston to a 75-73 victory over Sam Houston State at Hofheinz Pavilion on Tuesday.

Houston got 18 points from Maurice McNeil and another 12 points from Darian Thibodeaux. Zamal Nixon contributed 11 assists, while Maurice McNeil cleaned the glass with 9 rebounds.

Sam Houston State got 25 points from Gilberto Clavell in a losing cause and another 20 points from Josten Crow. Marcus Williams contributed 6 assists for them, while Josten Crow had 7 rebounds.

Houston hit the break trailing 40-37 before taking care of business in the second half.

Sam Houston State won the battle of the boards, outrebounding their counterparts 39-34.
