The battle between Iona and Hofstra didnt turn out to be much of a battle at all as Hofstra was handed an 87-62 defeat on Wednesday at Hynes Athletics Center.
Iona was a 10.5-point favorite in the win, and managed to turn a profit for their supporters.
Iona got 17 points from Scott Machado and another 16 points from Kyle Smyth. Scott Machado contributed 11 assists, while Michael Glover cleaned the glass with 12 rebounds.
Hofstra got a 20-point performance from Charles Jenkins, who was supported by 18 points from Mike Moore. Brad Kelleher had 5 assists in a losing cause for Hofstra, while Mike Moore grabbed 7 rebounds.
Iona hit the break leading 40-26 before taking care of business in the second half.
Iona won the battle of the boards, outrebounding their counterparts 32-28.
