The battle between UNC Asheville and Winthrop didnt turn out to be much of a battle at all as Winthrop was handed an 88-67 defeat on Thursday at Winthrop Coliseum.
UNC Asheville got 24 points from J.P. Primm and another 19 points from Matt Dickey. J.P. Primm contributed 6 assists, while John Williams cleaned the glass with 7 rebounds.
Winthrop got 19 points from Robbie Dreher in a losing cause and another 16 points from Matt Morgan. Andre Jones contributed 3 assists for them, while Andre Jones had 9 rebounds.
UNC Asheville hit the break leading 41-29 before taking care of business in the second half.
UNC Asheville won the battle of the boards, outrebounding their counterparts 45-38.
